EDC's CENTRAL COAST ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PROJECT (CCEHP) TO HOST FORUM ON PESTICIDES AND CHILDREN'S HEALTH
Back to the non-toxic theme, on Wed., Sep. 20th, the CCEHP will host a free public forum in Santa Maria to talk about pesticides and the health threats they pose to children and families. The forum is scheduled from 6-8pm at the Souza Center at 708 S. Miller Dr. in Santa Maria.
The focus of the forum is pesticide use in schools and in the home. Expert speakers will focus on issues including 1) why children are more at risk 2) pesticides in schools and homes 3) special risks faced by farmworkers and their families and 4) alternatives to these dangerous practices, including how Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs work.
All are encouraged to attend this informative presentation, which will provide Spanish and Mixteco translation as well as childcare. Many resources will be available for parents and community members to take home in order to implement some of the ideas covered at the forum. This is one you won't want to miss!
