Fans of early 20th century architecture will be interested to know that this weekend only the Redondo Beach Power Plant is open for a charity event to raise interest in an art center for their community. They created a large intereactive light installation with Jimu Okumura called Tesla's Ghost that will haunt the walls of the plant for the next three days.

Street Signs and Solar Ovens: Socialcraft in Los Angeles

Craft and Folk Art Museum

more info: here
Exhibit runs October 22 - December 31 , 2006

In the extended M&A community there exists the Journal of Aesthetics and Protest, a novel, social, and inspired (if not inspiring) publication. The editors have curated a show at the Craft and Folk Art Museum that includes Shade, a project produced in collaboration with M&A and Edith Abeyta. It was made by many volunteers from the LA Needle Exchange crocheting 100s of plastic bags together to form a large shade structure.
