Starting work on Density Fields
Over the next two months we will research, explore, and produce the next installation, Density Fields, with the Oyler-Wu Collaborative. Designs are in place and engineering and feasibility studies start immediately. Now is the time to join our volunteer email list if you are interested in participating. In early September, we will demolish Igloo with plans to scrape the ground, research what to do with existing materials, build a modular subterranean mounting system, then construct, assemble and produce the next installation targeted to open mid-October.

Interested in sponsoring this ambitious installation? We need monetary and material donations to pull this off! Be the envy of your competitors! All donations are tax-deductible. Contact jenna@emanate.org or call us: 323.913.0915.

First issue of The Climate is ready!
It took a year of work to put together but the journal is finally going to print. We took a few copies of the proof to PS1 and distributed them to get feedback, and now is the moment everyone has been waiting for! In it you'll find an interview with Ball-Nogues as they reflect on their experience at M&A on the eve of the opening of their piece, Liquid Sky, for PS1. There are also interviews and research information related to our current installation, Igloo, and in an article called "Info Architecture" Oliver Hess asks several visionaries, artists, and curators that burning question: "How do you organize your information?"

The journal is to be offset printed on 100# archival paper and formatted with articles printed on one side of each of four 12x18 pages and images on the other side of each page to create a set of posters. The pages are available either folded for handy reading, or unfolded in rolls, ready to frame.

These will be available for purchase here at M&A for $15 each or become a subscriber

Today online and you will receive two issues of our semi-annual journal for $25.

More great news...

We've started catching up on the M&A news archive. Some great articles about Igloo are in there now.

M&A just won a contract with the Environmental Affairs Department to produce Storm Water Management workshops for Architects and architecture students, Landscape Architects and students, designers, and small business owners. We are looking for Los Angeles County businesses that would like to host one of these workshops, and add the value of a "green upgrade" to their property. Please contact our coordinator, Astrid Diehl, for more details: astrid@emanate.org

Igloo closes August 31st, its future unknown, do you have a suggested next use for the piece or the materials?

Infranatural's environmentally-responsive installation HouseSwarming (presented by M&A at the Art Center downtown Pasadena campus for the OPEN HOUSE show) has been extended until the end of 2007 due to its popularity!

Bubbles wins AIA design honors award.

The M&A team is back from NY, PS1 looks great, and we've been keeping track of the public's response on flickr dialing in the posted date to get recent pics, amazingly there were pics only hours after this weekend's party.
