After School Garden Teacher
Environmental Charter High School (Lawndale, CA near Manhattan Beach) is seeking a school-year, part-time instructor to teach hands-on gardening classes to 13-18 year olds during our after school program. Classes are held in our school campus garden at Environmental Charter High School,Monday through Friday during 7th period (M 2:00-3:40 TW 2:50-3:40 and TF 2:30-3:20) during Fall/Spring session (Now-June 18th). Gardening Instructor(s) will teach gardening, cultivate native plants, make raised bed gardens in our campus to feed around 20 students. No garden maintenance outside of in-class gardening activities is required, unless you desire.  Competitive after school teacher hourly rate.
 
 
Minimum Qualifications:
 
Teaching experience; high school year old age range preferred
 
Organization, leadership, and communication skills
 
Knowledge of plants, vegetables, gardening, &/or agriculture
 
Comfort leading  games, experiments with children
 
Commitment to complete fall and spring  sessions
 
Interview & reference check; background check required before class begins
