Friends and fellow humans,

I am calling out to you—to those of you who know---as sure as the sun will rise---it is time for a whole system re-design!

In 2007 after returning from the World Social Forum in Kenya, where the GAP between rich and poor (or liberal and conservative ~ us against them) and the ECO-SYSTEM that sustains us all SCREAMED, "DO SOMETHING, THERE IS HOPE BECAUSE THE PROBLEMS ARE CLEAR".  We have divided causes and experts preaching to their choirs, and our global system is being kept in place because of what Einstein said—you can’t change the problems we face with the same level of thinking that created them—i.e. those maintaining the status quo of X won't change X! Whether in a village in Zimbabwe or East LA, we are humans and WE need a globally relevant collaboration system to change X and fast!

So, in 2008, the collective dream -- a dream followed and preceded by thousands of hours by a global team of dedicated volunteers, artists, students, elders, kitchen table philosophers -came to life.  Oh, now you want in on the dream? Keep reading....

Flash forward to 2010 - after a trudge through economic collapse and related statistics - a few thoughtful people kept going.  Some of us have dropped off, others returned--many others have stepped in, and up.  And you know what?  WE ARE DOING IT.  THE GLOBAL SUMMIT -- the ACTUAL GLOBAL SUMMIT -- not the 2 + Day AMAZING, BREAKTHROUGH "PLANNING" SYMPOSIUM held Nov. 2008 (where we gathered 200 people to use collective intelligence voting systems and interactive think-tanks, and set guiding principals for to assure we laid the foundation) but the ACTUAL EVENT ....now we are getting to do the actual IMPACT part!!!

DO YOU THINK its time for a whole system approach to a building a sustainable world?  What? Sounds too big-- lofty?  OK, stay home. Go back to business, government and philanthropy as usual, but if you agree that we need a radical change, and need to take risks, dream big, and GO BIG, or at least do something globally diverse, tangible,  relevant and scalable, join us at The Global Summit in just over a week.  Young social entrepreneurs are STILL trying to get to San Francisco from Nepal and Africa, so count your lucky stars if you don't need a Visa and ALL you need to do is get across the state or city!  Did I mention its going to be a flipping BLAST?  Oh yeah, and you better believe if you miss it, t-r-a-g-g-i-c.

  Totally up to you!

So, WE (I refer here to those of you who GET it) will ignite this mass collaboration for a sustainable future starting with the first of three World and Out of this World Live Musical Sho-Downs (all created by Tbird Tall Flame Luv –that’s right.), ta-dah: The Global Summit Welcome Concert Sunday Nov. 7th at Vessel SF in Union Square (Green Carpet Entry - 5:30pm) with a Beyond Fair Trade Fashion Show (thanks to Shauna Kane) followed by three days of Humanity Uniting for a Sustainable Future (see radical details below) at Fort Mason Center’s Herbst Pavilion. NOTE: Monday Registration begins at 8AM – and at 9AM we will begin shifting the course of history (HERstory actually) so don't be late. Closing Ceremony ends Weds November 10th at 5:30pm.

 ….NOW stop futzing around and

1)       Clear your schedule –Nov. 7-10, 2010  (YES THE WHOLE ENCHILADA--we are building a "CONTAINER" here! You know where we hold the "SPACE"? Please don't mess it up. Thanks.)

2)       See Invite below with 50% COMMUNITY DISCOUNT LINK & Register Yourself. (that's right, put the oxygen mask on, THEN help the person next to you)

3)       Share it forward!  - Share a ride, flight, room, through The Global Summit green transportation sponsor, SpaceShare NOTE: Our Group Rate at Comfort Inn ends on Oct. 30th!  MOVE!

In Collaboration,

Melanie St.James

  1. Beyond Climate Change: Oceans, Bio-diversity & the 6th Great Extinction
  2. Redefining Human Security: Women’s Health, Child Development & Hunger
  3. Conflicts of Scarcity: Environmental Resources, Population & Human Rights
  4. Guarding our Freedoms: Speech, Press, Self-Governance & Technology
