Let's ferment!

Interns from the farm at city college along with Paul Maschka, the farm instructor, are offering a two part workshop on Sunday, May 17th.

The first half of the day, starting at 9:30am, will include sourdough, yogurt, and kimchee.  For $15 you will take home starter, recipes, and you will learn how to apply basic principles of bacteria and yeast cultivation.  Bring 2 small and 1 large jar (ball or other glass jar), or cash to purchase materials on site.

The second half of the day, starting at 1pm, will include a simple ginger ale making exercise, as well as beer and mead making.  You will make your own gingerale to take home and learn about some of the finer points of the process so you can do it yourself at home with a 2L soda bottle.  We will bottle a batch of beer that has already been fermented, brew a batch of mead while discussing some of the nuances of beer making and have some tasting.  The fee for this class is $15.  Please bring a 2L soda bottle or other sealable container for the ginger ale. You will get 1 bottle of beer, some recipes, and have lots of fun!  Bring extra cash if you want to purchase beer or additional materials on site.

You can attend either or both events.

Please RSVP to Brook Sarson <brookleigh77@yahoo.com) by Friday.
