If you’ve been looking for a cost effective way of saving rainwater, we are offering a solution. Come and make your own rain barrel to take home! Britt Cool, from San Diego Water Recycling and Brook Sarson, of H2OME (www.h2o-me.com) will host the class.
We will provide clean, recycled 55 gallon drums along with a kit of parts to tap it for a hose fitting on the bottom and an overflow on the top. You will be able to drill your holes and assemble your barrel onsite.
We will talk about filtration, mosquitoes, how to figure out your water resources, uses for your rainwater, as well as other rainwater harvesting techniques, from about 2-3 and then we will go outside to assemble the barrels.
After the class, you can purchase additional barrels and kits, if you choose.
The cost of the class is $65, which includes a $5 donation to the garden. Additional Barrels are $32. The cost of attending the class but not taking home a barrel is $25, $5 of which is a donation to the garden.
