The Permaculture Institute of Northern California is excited to offer the only 4-day workshop exclusively with David Holmgren on the west coast!

Program:
In this intensive course, David Holmgren, co-originator of the Permaculture concept (with Bill Mollison in 1970's) provides an insight into permaculture as a set of design principles for reshaping how we manage land, our lives and our livelihoods in a world of energy descent.

Using a combination of free flowing lectures, visual presentations, case studies of his own work, structured group discussions, observation and a site design exercise, David Holmgren breathes life into the design principles which link the diversity of permaculture solutions.Using a combination of free flowing lectures, visual presentations, case studies of his own work, structured group discussions, observation and a site design exercise, David Holmgren breathes life into the design principles which link the diversity of permaculture solutions.

This 4-day format allows participants to gain experience in using the design principles in an extended small group site design exercise.
For PDC (permaculture design certificate) graduates wanting to expand and redesign their permaculture toolkit for new conditions and challenges, this course provides an update on the ongoing evolution of these permaculture principles and their applications.
For those new to permaculture but with a grounding in sustainability concepts and strategies, this course provides access to foundational understandings necessary to make sense of permaculture strategies and priorities.

Location:
Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), Petaluma, California.

Course fees:
$450 not including lunch. Early Bird Discount $395 if paid in full by July 1st.
Student discount $250.

Lodging and meals are available at IONS (see below).

Cancellation policy:
A refund minus a $10 handling fee prior to August 1.
No refund after August 1st.

IONS Lodging:
Double occupancy dorm style accommodation $300 per person for three nights includes 3 delicious organic meals.
Single occupancy is $360 for three nights includes 3 delicious organic meals.

Saturday: Lunch and Dinner
Sunday & Monday: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Tuesday: Breakfast and Lunch

People who are not staying on campus are welcome to sign up for meals:

Required background for Advanced Workshop: Introduction to Permaculture with Toby Hemenway, prior permaculture training, or a strong understanding of sustainability concepts and strategies.
Options: Taken separately, the three day introductory workshop August 13-15 with Toby Hemenway is $180. The two day Advanced Permaculture Workshop with David Holmgren on August 16 and 17 is $140.
Deposits: $75 for the 5 day workshop or $50 for one part only. The balance is due by July 1. The deposit is not refundable, but registration is transferable.
