Hope you can join us for a fun, hands-on workshop at the Cal Poly Organic Farm (on the 'Student Experimental Farm' site) next Saturday, Nov. 12th.  Ecological Landscaper, Josh Carmichael will be sharing his knowledge on many practical garden tips...(see below).  ALSO, a JOB offering in natural landscaping & building following workshop announcement...

Ecological GARDEN DESIGN WORKSHOP: Nov. 12 Learn about sustainable garden design from ecological designer Joshua Carmichael of Carmichael Environmental Services at a free community workshop on Saturday, November 12.
The event is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cal Poly Organic Farm and is co-sponsored by the Cal Poly Organic Farm and the Cal Poly Sustainable Agriculture Resource Consortium.  [Directions to the Organic Farm are posted at the end of this message.] Attendees will get a lesson in native plants and a demonstration of organic herb garden-building, including soil preparation, planting, mulching, and the installation of a drip irrigation system.
Participants will also learn about an inexpensive, easy and environmentally friendly way to use stone and natural mortar as the key ingredients for building garden walls. Participants will have a chance to participate in a 'hands on' lesson by assisting in the construction of a fire-ring on the farm and a portion of a stone retaining wall.
Beverages and light snacks will be provided; participants are asked to provide their own brown-bag lunch, water, and sun protection. Visitors are welcome to attend all or part of the all-day workshop.
