Project-Based Action Learning for Earth Regeneration

Gaia University to
Launch Doctoral Program

As of 2010 Gaia University will be offering a Doctoral program!
The program will be open to all Associates who have completed a Masters level degree with Gaia U. Students holding Masters degrees from other Universities are equally welcome to apply, and will be required to complete one-year in a post-graduate program with Gaia University. If you don’t have a Masters degree, but know you’d like to participate in Gaia U’s Doctoral Program, it would be a good time to apply for a Masters degree with us.
Interested? Read our website and fill out the online application form (www.gaiauniversity.org).

Gaia University Welcomes
Indigenous Associates

This winter Gaia University will welcome it’s first two Australian Indigenous Associates, Annette and Alwyn, through the United Nations University Traditional Knowledge Initiative.
Gaia University graduate Ian Nigh, highlighted in our last newsletter, has been working on initiatives for “bridging epistemologies,” supporting the recognition of traditional knowledge and finding points of collaboration between traditional forms of knowledge and western science. This project has evolved to include the introduction of Gaia U’s Action-Learning programs in Indigenous community groups as a means to find points of resonance between the Gaia U framework and the traditional forms of knowledge in these communities.

Orientation in the Virgin Islands, December 2009

The first Gaia University Orientation in the Caribbean will be held this December at the Virgin Islands Sustainable Farms Institute (VISFI).
Speaking with founder and director Ben Jones via skype from the VISFI Community Centre, over a consistent hum and buzz of human activity, there was a definite sense of VISFI as a bustling group of world changers with plenty of knowledge and enthusiasm to share!
VISFI is in the process of becoming Gaia U’s Regional Center for the Caribbean. For students looking to complete their Permaculture Design Certificates before their Gaia Orientation, VISFI will be offering a PDC course in November-a great excuse to head for the islands a bit early!
