Dear Friends,

After two months of sharply reduced Ojai Foundation staff and extremely active weather, the Land is bursting with vigor and new growth—and needs. We invite you to join us for either or both of our upcoming Days of Service, in the spirit of community samu / barn raising / reunion party / celebration of spring renewal.

Many hands will be welcome to help with the growing list of repairs- cleaning, weeding, pruning, patching, Beauty Way creativity and chop-wood-carry-water “working meditation.”

• Sunday, Feb. 21 will focus on the guest and program spaces. Among other things, we hope to install new covers on the domes (many thanks to Crossroads and New Roads schools for funding the new ones!); patch rain-damaged earth plasters our green buildings; give much-needed love and attention to the kivas, tipi and sweat lodge; deep-clean the kitchen and dining areas; etc. etc. etc.

• Saturday, Feb. 27 will focus on the gardens and grounds. We have a rich abundance of weeds to be pulled (including on the Council House’s living roof); trees to be pruned; trails to be freshened; firewood to be collected and stacked; etc. etc. etc.

Bring gloves, tools, weed-whackers if you have them, water bottle, hat, sunscreen, songs and jokes to share, willing hands and open hearts. Bring contributions for a potluck picnic lunch. We hope to fire up the cob oven and offer pizzas.

Both days will begin at 9 a.m. with a welcome and gratitude circle at the Fountain. (Come early for meditation from 7:30 to 8, if you wish.) Then we’ll divide into teams and get to work. Throughout the day, a mindfulness bell will signal us to pause and be present.

We intend to work until sundown or until it feels like time to play—stay as long as you like.

Please share this invitation with anyone you believe would like to be part of this. And to help us anticipate how many hands to plan for, please RSVP to either of us and let us know who’s coming. Questions and suggestions are welcome too.

We look forward to sharing two fun Days of Service at a favorite place with some of our favorite people. Please join us!

Blessings & gratitude,
