Dear Garden Friend,

Summer greetings from your Community Garden!  This is our first Garden Newsletter, and we hope to continue to provide seasonal news from the Garden to keep you updated on past and future events and activities.

We have plenty of opportunities for you to connect with the garden during late summer and early fall - please see the "Upcoming Events" section below for more information. If you have any suggestions or requests for educational classes or garden events, please email us at communityrootsgarden@gmail.com.  We appreciate your feedback.

Feel free to forward this newsletter on to anyone who may be interested in getting involved, or, if you wish to be taken off our list, click "unsubscribe" at the bottom of the page.

WHO WE ARE
For those of you who are new to our garden, the mission of Community Roots Garden is largely to increase food security, both by providing the harvest to those in need and by empowering the community to grow their own food. Besides growing food, we are eager to grow community. We want to help ourselves and others become more self-sufficient and food secure. We want to share our food and share our knowledge about how to grow food. And we invite your involvement - anyone is welcome to come and volunteer with us (see hours below or on our website)!

Purple Cabbages

Community Roots Garden is a ministry of, and is located, at the North Oxnard United Methodist Church
in Oxnard, California. We recently received a significant grant through Community Action of Ventura County, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  We were able to hire two Garden Masters, Eric Humel and Katerina Friesen, to oversee and coordinate education, volunteers, and garden development.  Drop by for a tour of the garden during the week at any time (well, call first) and meet these two new garden coordinators who are excited to carry on the vision of Community Roots!
