Subject: Can you come to the beach tomorrow?

Description: Dan and the giant turtle.resized.jpgHi Kimberly M.,

We're holding a bag ban rally and beach cleanup tomorrow at 10 a.m.  — can you join us?

WHO: Mayor Helene Schneider, Environment California's Benjamin Davis, Santa Barbara ChannelKeeper's Kira Redmond — and people like us who want an end to those annoying plastic bags that pollute our ocean and harm wildlife

WHAT: Speeches from community leaders and the release of Environment California's new bag ban report, followed by a rally and beach cleanup. There will be a 30'x30' inflatable sea turtle, face painting and more!

WHERE: At the beach next to the Santa Barbara Pier; State St. and Cabrillo Blvd.

WHEN: Tomorrow (Thursday) starting at 10 a.m.

WHY: Because right now, an island of trash twice the size of Texas is floating in the Pacific. It kills millions of birds and marine animals, like sea turtles, every year. Too much of this trash comes from things we don't need, like plastic grocery bags. So we're calling on Santa Barbara's City Council to ban the bag to cut ocean pollution.

I hope you can make it!

Dan Jacobson
Environment California Legislative Director
