There are times a laundry to landscape greywater system isn't the best way to get greywater into the garden. In this case, the place we needed to tap into the laundry line is behind the washer, below the house, and in the drainage pipe. The greywater needs to be moved by gravity, because there isn't a direct connection to the washer motor.
This is an opportunity to learn and work on a different kind of greywater installation called Branched Drain.  We will be working with larger pipes of 2" and 1 1/2" that are more rigid than those in the laundry to landscape system. The pipes need to be adjusted to drop 1/4" per foot to keep the greywater flowing.  It will be challenging and exciting to put this all together!
Saturday October 4 from 8:30am-3:00pm. This workshop needs to run longer than usual because of the precision involved in setting the branched drain pipes.  Lunch will be served.
The greywater will be directed to the front yard, side yard, and parts of the backyard. This is a fun project and you are invited to take part in it!
Greene is the family name of the people's yard we will be working in, so this will be a branched drain workshop in a Greene garden!
Sweetwater Collaborative is taking greywater workshops to a new level in Santa Barbara. Come join us and get in on the newest thing!
