Announcements, Important Info and Updates:

1. Safer Alternatives To Combat Asian Citrus Psyllid

You have a choice!  If you are in the ACP treatment zone in Meiners Oaks, and you do not want pesticides applied to your citrus trees, you have the option to "opt out" (The CDFA treatment includes application of a toxic insecticidal foliar spray, as well as a soil application of Imidacloprid, a systemic pesticide labeled as "highly toxic" to bees.)

To opt out, please call (800) 491-1899 as soon as possible.  Otherwise, if your property is in the designated treatment zone in Meiners Oaks, it will be treated with toxic chemicals.  (Click on the link below to continue reading article written by Todd Bebb, Santa Barbara Beekeepers Association: Safer Alternatives To Combat Asian Citrus Psyllid:http://www.edhat.com/site/tidbit.cfm?nid=112808&showcomments=T)

2.  Please share info on rodenticides with neighbors, property managers, businesses...   (Ask Patty for pamphlets.)  When people understand how dangerous rodenticides are to our wildlife and pets, they are more than willing to stop using them.

The best way to control rodent populations is to install owl boxes.  FYI:  It is counterproductive to have owl boxes if you have the poison bait boxes on the property.  Owls are poisoned by eating poisoned rodents.  http://www.raptorsarethesolution.org/
