co-sponsored by Goleta Water District and City of Goleta

Are you wondering where El Nino is and if we'll get any significant rain this year? Worried about where our water will come from to meet our needs? Here's an opportunity to learn about a water source already in our homes, already paid for, and ready to be used in the landscape.

Sweetwater Collaborative is offering a basic class in greywater design and installation for anyone in the community who is interested. Laundry to landscape installations will be highlighted. Other greywater possibilities, including the Showers to Flowers model and the recent change in permitting requirements for shower and bathroom sink greywater in the unincorporated Goleta Valley, will be discussed. Examples of branched drain systems will also be shown. A variety of options for design and installation and financial incentives will also be shared.

The class includes a PowerPoint presentation, a mock up of laundry to landscape parts, playing or watching the Greywater Puzzle game, and considering individual questions about specific properties and their unique characteristics and challenges.  Participants are invited to come with questions about their specific projects or proposed projects to provide real life examples of the principles and practices behind these sustainable systems. Get the answers that there isn’t time to cover at Sweetwater’s hands-on workshops.

Suggested contribution of $10 per person or $15 a couple to Sweetwater Collaborative to attend each class, payable in cash or check at the door.

Consider coming to our Greywater 101 class on Thurs Feb 18 and participating in our Laundry to Landscape hands-on workshop in north Goleta on Sat Feb 20 (see sweetwatercollaborative.org for more details and to sign up for the workshop)  We're working to grow greywater in Goleta this month!
