An UPDATE for the EcoVillage Reality Tours

1. Linda Seeley and June Shepard are organizing the LA EcoVillage Reality
Tour. Call them for details. June: 528-0367; Linda: 544-8112. Perhaps more
details can be announced at Larry's talk on April 11th at the SLO library at
7pm ($4 donation).

What I imagine seeing is that people who wish to go would get together first
to determine arrangements, questions to ask (some may focus on the
interpersonal, some may desire to learn about the legalities and how they
managed to buy an entire apartment complex!!, etc., etc.), how long to stay,
how much it will cost, etc.

[Please refer to the HDance issue #29 of SUSTAINABLE LIVING ARRANGEMENTS
where Lois Arkin, the main person/soul behind the LA ecovillage, writes about
her experience in creating an ecovillage (or go directly to HOPEDANCE WEB SITE and click to archives
and then click to #29).]

2. June Shepard is also speaking with the OAEC (Occidental Arts and Ecology
Center) people in Occidental to get prices, dates, etc. [See Dave Henson's
article "Incorporating an Intentional Community" on the same web site as
above, if you are interested in the legal aspects of building an ecovillage.]
or go to www.oaec.org. She was also talking about staying at the very cool
hostel ($13 a night) in Sausalito in the Marine Headlands.

Some new ideas for the Reality Tours:

3. Ojai Foundation Tour
4. Cohousing in Oceano Tour
5. Village Homes in Davis, CA Tour

anyone interested in orchestrating those tours?

and
#6. the Baja experiment of tasting what it will be like living with a group
of people for a week to TASTE not only the salty waters of the Sea of Cortez
and to taste the wonderfully fresh caught fish but to taste a sampling of
ecovillage life in Baja. Details below (the same as posted before):

[A Taste of ecovillage living for a week in Baja (May 18-25th) (or less days
depending on group consensus).
For $20 a day we could spend a week or less in El Santuario in casitas,
buy our own food and prepare it in the communal cantina, live in the casitas,
poop in the compost toilets, take solar showers, live in a resource limited
bioregion (its a desert!) (besides kiyak, snorkel, boat, hot baths, drum,
dance... and have people in the group do various workshops for free: writing
workshops, yoga, meditation, dancing...)
The biggest expense is getting there. At times it costs up to $450 round
trip to Loreto from SLO. However, if we got a van and took it to LAX, we
could possibly find a deal for $150-$200 RT.
So, for perhaps $350-$400 we could engage in an experiment in Baja for an
entire week for food and lodging!!!. Thats cheaper than doing this in
anyplace in California. 2-3 scholarships are still available.

I will orchestrate #6..
