In anticipation of John Jeavon's lecture on May 21st (details below), Bill and
Phyllis Davies will be opening their home for a "Fireside Evening with John
Jeavons" the evening prior -

Tuesday, MAY 20, from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m.

This will be an informal community potluck gathering, and an excellent
opportunity to meet John in person and share ideas with others who are
interested in his work.  Join us for this special event at this beautiful spot
(thank you, Phyllis and Bill!).  Please bring a dish to pass.

Directions: Take Buckley Road (just South of the airport) to Jespersen 
Road.  Go
South on Jesperson about 1/2 mile to #5015.  Turn right into the drive 
(between
the pines) and proceed to end.

JOHN JEAVONS TO SPEAK AT CAL POLY ON MAY 21 (Wednesday):

The Sustainable Agriculture Resource Consortium will be hosting special guest
speaker, John Jeavons, at a free public lecture on Wednesday, May 21st.  Mr.
Jeavons is a pioneer of the modern organic agriculture movement and known
internationally as the leading researcher, developer, teacher and 
consultant of
small-scale food production techniques utilizing Biointensive agriculture.
Biointensive agriculture is a form of sustainable agriculture which seeks to
limit off-farm inputs and maximize productivity per acre.  The comprehensive
cropping system developed by Mr. Jeavons enables people in all regions of the
world to grow a balanced diet on a small plot of land.  This system is 
currently
practices in over 100 countries worldwide and is highlighted in his 
best-selling
book "How to Grow More Vegetables, Fruits, Nuts, Berries, Grains and Other 
Crops
Than You Ever Thought Possible on Less Land Than You Can Imagine".  Mr. 
Jeavons
will share information on his extensive research in sustainable 
agriculture, on
his international development work and about his "Bountiful Gardens" 
educational
center in Willits, CA.

The event will take place from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the "Business Rotunda",
Building 3, Room 213.
