Heather Coburn Flores lives in Soquel, California, on a
multifunctional 4-acre site that includes fruit, vegetables, wildlife
corridors, and educational facilities for dance, music, and
permaculture. She is the author of Food Not Lawns, How to Turn your
Yard into a Garden and your Neighborhood into a Community (Chelsea
Green, Summer 2006,) and a co-founder of the movement to reclaim the
American Lawn for food and community. Heather offers workshops and
consultation, and writes about organic gardening, sustainability,
