It's Time to Rally, People! It's time to work together to show care for the earth and care for people and to share the wealth!

(Actually, it is way past time to honor & protect the earth and all peoples of the earth!)

It’s time for a revolution – a food justice revolution, a revolt against racism, a revolution for human rights and for protecting all that is precious – our environment, our communities, our children, our respect for all people.

There are numerous ways to for us to stand up for democracy, for social justice, & for permaculture! We need to come out to show our support. Please show up and lend your helping hand and voice.

Thank you to Talley Farms for hosting our summer social!

Andrea Chavez, director of Talley Farms' Fresh Harvest CSA, gave us a tour of their operation and shared their lettuce bounty with us to glean for the Food Bank.
Thank you for your generosity!

And thank you to everyone who came out for the summer social! There was a nice mix of old and new faces. Hope to see you all at the next meeting in October!

Work Group Updates:

CalFresh Alliance
Contact: <mailto:jmiller at slofoodbank.org> Jen Miller

The SLO County CalFresh Alliance has adopted a plan to reduce hunger and improve health in SLO County by reaching an 85% CalFresh participation rate. Recent progress toward this goal includes:

*	Same-visit enrollment at all six Department of Social Services offices
*	Funding secured for CalFresh outreach staffing at Cal Poly and the Food Bank
*	Ongoing trainings available for community based organizations who are interested in learning how they can help people enroll in CalFresh
*	Exploring new technologies and system improvements, such as text notifications

The SLO County CalFresh Alliance is a group of local individuals representing multiple CBOs and agencies who work with residents living in poverty. The Alliance works together to advocate for the increase in CalFresh (formerly food stamps) participation rate and the elimination of barriers to CalFresh for low-income individuals.

The North County markets are going well, and the Thursday SLO market has an excellent EBT operator and an average of 6 EBT users per week.

The work group is trying to help the Thursday night SLO market connect with SNAP Outreach to raise awareness and increase participation in their EBT option and is also considering the possibility of helping farm stands to start accepting EBT.
