This Week: Bike Riding Farmer Alex Moore

On Friday, September 8th, at 9:00 am, PST and on Monday, September 11th, at 12:00 noon PST, Sustainable World is broadcasting an interview with Ojai farmer Alex Moore. Alex is currently riding his bike from Ojai to Buellton, CA, and returning back to Ojai by way of Camarillo! -with stops in New Cuyama, Lompoc, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Fillmore, among other places. Why would an organic farmer take to the streets on a 1980's, "piecemeal" bike? To launch his new project: "60 Mile Farms." "60 Mile Farms" is a community-inspired project designed to help farmers and consumers define a new local food system, one that is based on environmental stewardship, economic sustainability and social equality.

Alex is riding for 12 days and across 300 miles on his Backyard Farm Tour.

Alex will be pedaling past the studio Friday morning, so if you want to learn about relocalizing food, our regional foodshed, organic farming, and just how sore one can get from bike riding for four straight days... please tune in.

If you have any questions or comments during air time, please call the station at
(805) 893-2424.
