HomeGrown Culver City is a family friendly event that celebrates backyard
edible gardening, sustainable gardening, and an ecological lifestyle. This
entirely free event will take place at Media Park, Culver City , 9070 Venice
Blvd, Culver City. on Saturday, October 23rd from 9am to 5pm and seeks to
unite people and organizations dedicated to teaching and fostering organic
gardening in an effort to strengthen the local community of urban farmers.
Come and enjoy free workshops, fun family activities, delicious local food,
and live music performances throughout the day.
This year’s gathering will feature:

Free workshops Every hour on the hour! : . Confirmed presenters include Erik
Knutzen (co-author of The Urban Homestead: Your Guide to Self-sufficient
Living in the Heart of the City) and Deborah Eden Tull (author of The
Natural Kitchen: Your Guide to the Sustainable Food Revolution) .

Kids activities: Children will have their very own activity area where they
can learn to make mosaics and seedballs as well as create
scarecrows constructed with recyclable materials, led by reDiscovery Center.
Families can also enjoy a performance by Nickeoldeon Parent Picks 2009
winner, Madam Chocolat and Culver City Public Theatre troupe.

Specialty vendors: vendors include a selection of hand-picked edible plant
growers, garden designers, eco-friendly businesses, and artisnal food
providers

Food vendors – Enjoy delicious dishes prepared by Los Angeles chefs including
Bawarchi Indian Kitchen who will be serving their modern interpretation of
the classic Mughlai cuisine; and Large Marge Sustainables, a pescatarian
catering company renowned for their use of fresh, local, organic ingredients
combined with sustainable preparations

HomeGrown Culver City is 100% volunteer organized with all proceeds going to
Beyond Shelter, a nonprofit organization that helps homeless families with
children move into permanent housing and provides ongoing services to help
them rebuild their lives.

Attendees are encouraged to bring canned and/or packaged healthy food, as
well as new children’s winter clothing items:  jackets, sweatshirts or
pajamas *to donate to Beyond Shelter*
