> The 4-acre Earthworks Farm is currently seeking an Organic Farm Manager, available to begin immediately, to assist in the planning, development and management of the farm.   The San Gabriel Valley Conservation corps currently manages the farm, which is on land managed by County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation and owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers in the Whittier Narrows Regional Park. The Farm today is staffed by San Gabriel Valley corps members, under the direct supervision of the Organic Farmer, the Farmer’s assistant (daily supervisor) and the Earthworks Farm Program Director.  The SGVCC operates a charter high school in El Monte, and uses the Earthworks Farm site, as a satellite location for vocational training and biology instruction.

> Currently, the SGVCC is undertaking a master plan for the site, with stakeholders, thanks to funding from the County of Los Angeles Unincorporated Business Tax Grant program. A consultant is supervising the project which includes: Developing a site plan with upgrades to the farm. Additionally, funding is available for the three part-time farm staff positions, 4 full-time corps members, and urban planning and landscape architecture services.

> Minimum Requirements: Experience as a master gardener and organic farmer, at a small farm. Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred. Experience with organic farming methods.  Effective teaching methods and bilingual communications skills to teach organic farming to youth corps members and adult volunteers. 25 hours per week on site. 5 hours per week for administrative duties or as needed. Salary: $20.00 per hour. Contract employee; expense reimbursement provided as needed.
