STRAW BALE WORK PARTY - FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7th to SUNDAY, OCTOBER 9th @
the Cuyama Learning Center at Quail Springs

A weekend of joyous work and learning in the art of straw bale
building!  Food and camping are provided, as well as swimming and
exploring the beautiful spring fed canyon here at Quail Springs.  We are
in the middle stages of building a gorgeous straw bale building.  Work
opportunities will include lighter and heavier options – building walls,
preparing clay slip and slipping bales, and potentially earthen
plastering.  Activities will be framed around the interests and
abilities of participants.  All ages and skill sets are welcome,
families are welcome.  Building experience is not necessary.  Join us
for all or part of the weekend.  (If this weekend does not work for you
but you’re interested to participate another time, please contact us.)

Dear Friends,

Magic was afoot in our most recent straw bale work party
in the
beautiful people who found their way here. Thank you to everyone for
your joyous and productive work
together we slipped more bales in one
day than any group really should. Since you all left, we had one day
of solid rain which washed the sagebrush and California buckwheat to a
glistening and aromatic clean, and got us to successfully cover
everything that needs covering. Since then it’s been rather warm and
bright, with lots of tomatoes ripening...

Sincerely,
Kolmi, Cyndi, Maaka, Cindy, and soon, Warren and Paul
