CAN'T MANAGE THREE WEEKS? NOW YOU CAN COME FOR ONE!

As an experiment, the College is offering the option for people to attend
just one or two weeks of the "Future of Money" course in January. Each
week features a separate teacher and can therefore be a valuable learning
experience on its own. Teachers and dates are as follows: January 8-13 -
Bernard Lietaer on the Re-Invention of Money; January 15-20 - Ann Pettifor
and David Boyle on Bringing Values into the Money System; January 22-27 -
Lynne Twist on The Soul of Money.
The course fee for one week is £950, for two weeks £1350, and the full
course costs £1650.

EFA SCHOLARSHIPS STILL AVAILABLE

The College still has some funds left to help eligible US citizens attend
its upcoming 3-week courses. Two EFA scholarships worth £1,000 each
($1,800 at current exchange rate) are available for any of the courses
running from January to March ("The Future of Money", "Development: Holy
Grail or Poisoned Chalice?" or "Food, Health and Society".). Applicants
should be US citizens, should be active in the sustainability/social
justice movement and able to demonstrate how attendance at the course will
help their work and therefore the communities they are active in. Two
letters of recommendation are also required. PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY
ATTENDED A SCHUMACHER COLLEGE COURSE ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY, so if you
have been here before, please spread the word to others you know who might
be interested. Application procedures are on our website. The deadline
for applying for an EFA scholarship for any of these courses is November
25. Applications for all courses will be considered together and the two
best selected.

WINTER SOLSTICE RETREAT

If the sight of plastic Christmas trees in shop windows and the impending
frenzy of consumerism is beginning to depress you, you may want to consider
taking a break from it all over the Winter Solstice and spending a peaceful
and inspiring few days on retreat at Schumacher College.

WINTER SOLSTICE RETREAT
Sun 18th - Thurs 22nd December, 2005

Cost is £325.00

Take a break this winter and join us here at Schumacher College for a quiet
Solstice Retreat. For four days enjoy the beautiful, tranquil surroundings
of the historic Dartington Estate, with its ancient woodlands, large
expanses of gardens and farmland encompassed by the magical river Dart.

The College has an unrivalled reputation as an international centre for
ecological and spiritual studies. You will be welcome to access its
extensive library and enjoy the menu of delicious, organic vegetarian food.

As this retreat takes place in the days leading up to the Winter solstice,
we have arranged some optional activities to reflect the theme of the
season. If so moved you can join in discussions on the symbolism of the
solstice, exploration of the night sky, craft sessions, walks on the land
and the creation of a Solstice Eve ritual centred on the College's
labyrinth. Or you may just prefer to curl up with a good book in front of
a log fire!

Come and find a place of stillness. Hear the voices of the land and the stars.

Tchenka Jane Sunderland has been a regular volunteer helper at Schumacher
over the past six years. She is an experienced astrologer, labyrinth
designer, practitioner and teacher of Hermetic philosophy. She will be
happy to give personal astrological consultations during the retreat.

Alison Waite has spent many years exploring the sacred ways of healing
through nature and culture. She was co-founder of the Glastonbury Goddess
Temple and is deeply interested in how the new science and spirituality
complement and inform each other
