HAPPY SPRING!
March was a spectacular month, with 70 degree sunny days, and 30 degree

the way. We congratulate the heroic young adults who made a rite of
passage journey here with the guidance of their Wilderness Youth Project
mentors.  And we thank the many hands and hearts that have helped bring
Quail Springs Learning Oasis and Permaculture Farm into Spring
gracefully.

COB FOUNDATION SERVICE LEARNING RESCEDULED – Friday April 7 to Sunday
April 9

Experienced cob builder and teacher, Betty Seaman, will be here as we
prepare a foundation for the cob cottage-to-be.  Don’t miss this
opportunity to get crucial experience in foundation preparation, which
often is not covered even in full length cob workshops, yet is essential
to a good house.  We've rescheduled for April 7-9 due to rain this
weekend, for which over 20 folks RSVPed. We’re expecting drier weather
next weekend, yet will go ahead with the foundation RAIN OR SHINE, as
the rest of the month is packed!

GARDEN PREPARATION SERVICE LEARNING – Friday April 14 to Sunday April 16

For the soil loving seed planter or anyone who wishes to learn and play
in the garden!  We’ll be adding nourishing compost, seeding, mulching
and singing while the chickens do some ‘tractoring’!  Join us for all or
part of the weekend.  Maybe we’ll do an egg hunt to salute Spring!

BARRY BRAILSFORD AND WARREN BRUSH – TENDING THE FIRES OF REMEMBRANCE -
Sunday April 23 and Monday April 24
Join renowned New Zealand author, storyteller, elder, and teacher, Barry
Brailsford and local California storyteller, poet, and teacher, Warren
Brush in weaving together two concerted days of learning through
stories, sensory activities, and reflection among the gifts of nature.
This retreat is designed to light your fire of awakening and awareness
that will support and nurture your traverse of your own unique and
inspired trail of vision and hope.  We will interlace stories of old and
new, from Aotearoa (New Zealand) and Turtle Island (N. America) along
with hands-on, experiential activities to stimulate the recognition of
your inherent gifts, attunement of your senses, and a wakeful surrender
to your original instructions.

In 1988 the elders of the oldest of the tribes of New Zealand asked
Barry Brailsford to tell their story and gift their lore to the world.
This was an unprecedented event in the history of Maori, an amazing
moment in the relationship of the indigenous people and the nation.  It
is a realm where trust and courage asked much of ordinary people, where
the peaceful way is the power and hope the purpose. It affirms the
ancient weave of our beginnings, the oneness that brings us to the
universal lore. It says Maori and Hopi speak with one voice, that Maori
and Celt are of one mind, that Maori and Zulu have one knowing, that
Maori and Haida Indian are of the same ancestors. It brings us back to
the source

.. It tells us that what we thought was lost has merely been
held safe until this time of need. – flyer excerpt from K.Wilsun
