the principles and practices of Permaculture with teacher and holistic
financial planner Christopher Peck.  This two-hour workshop will
introduce the art and science of holistic sustainable living:
Permaculture.  This dynamic workshop is about learning solutions to
environmental and social problems that we can implement in our own
lives and in our local communities. In doing so, we develop skills that
help us foster communities that are more ecologically regenerative,
socially cooperative, and personally satisfying. Teacher's Bio:Christopher
Peck has taught over 400 students in the last nine years, in more than
30 workshops, weeklong classes, and semester-long courses, and is known
for his lively wit and sense of humor. His courses are remarkable for
their hand's-on activities, group interaction and play, and for class
discussion and personal reflection. Christopher is the author
of Developing the Art of Teaching:  Guidelines for Effective
Facilitation, a pioneering work that applies the principles of natural
systems thinking to the process of teaching. The
following day will be a hands-on, community gardening day hosted by
Jodi Levine and Deanna Moore.  We will be planting fruit trees
including bananas, citrus and papaya, as well as planting annual
fruits, veggies and native plants.Community Banana Planting Day with Deanna Moore and Jodi LevineSunday, May 18th2:00pm to 4:00 p.m.FreeJodi, Deanna & Emily's House30632 Trabuco Oaks DriveTrabuco Canyon, CA 92679 Bring a shovel & gardening gloves, water and snacks for the afternoonWhat is Permaculture? The
word "permaculture" was coined and popularized in the mid 70's by David
Holmgren, a young Australian ecologist, and his associate / professor,
Bill Mollison. It is a contraction of "permanent agriculture" or
"permanent culture." Permaculture is about designing ecological human
habitats and food production systems. It is a land use and community
building movement which strives for the harmonious integration of human
dwellings, microclimate, annual and perennial plants, animals, soils,
and water into stable, productive communities. The focus is not on
these elements themselves, but rather on the relationships created
among them by the way we place them in the landscape. This synergy is
further enhanced by mimicking patterns found in nature. –Permaculture ActivistDeanna
Moore, a graduate of Christopher Peck's Permaculture Design Teacher
Training course and creator of Chocolatl.  Jodi Levine is founder and
director of Earthroots Field School.  Our hands-on community planting
day on Sunday will give participants experience creating swales,
planting trees and creating thoughtful water flow.Questions about this event? Contact Deanna Moore at (949) 981.8067moore.deanna at gmail.com
