Rainwater Harvesting Workshop in Escondido at Sky Mountain Permaculture

Date: February 27th

Description: Learn how to create a drought resilient property. This class takes you beyond the use of rainwater storage tanks by teaching you how to capture and retain the thousands of gallons of rain that falls on your property. You will learn how to create simple earthern structures that help reduce outdoor water consumption, decrease water bills, control erosion and enhance soil fertility. Gary Moring of GEM Site Development will be using his mini-excavator to dig a hugelkultur swale - providing a unique opportunity to learn to direct small machinery! This machine can be used in small yards to make earthworks. In addition we will demonstrating how to lay out swales and earthworks using surveying equipment. Earthworks help you achieve maximum effectiveness for the least effort and cost whether your yard is urban, suburban or rural, big or small. Class includes a tour of the property and earthworks co-designed with permaculture guru Paul Wheaton.
