Santa Barbara Permaculture Presents

Restore Paradise! Tragedy & Opportunity

The Camp Fire Ecosystem Restoration Project

Redesigning for a Regenerative Future

Santa Barbara Community Event in Support of the

Camp Fire Restoration Weekend in Paradise, CA

Monday, April 22, 6-8pm, 2019 - FREE

Location: South Coast Watershed Resource Center

981 Cliff Drive, Santa Barbara, CA 93109

On November 8, 2018, the small town of Paradise, California was destroyed by
the devastating Camp Fire, the largest wildfire in California's history -
more massive, but similar to what many other California communities have
also experienced in recent years.

Join Santa Barbara Permaculture Network and the Abundant Earth Foundation as
they host an evening in support of the Camp Fire Ecosystem Restoration
Project, and the very first Ecosystem Restoration Camp to be located in the
USA.

With tragedy, comes opportunity! Paradise, California would like to be a
model for not only how the land and people can recover, but how to rebuild
in balance with nature, and with resilience for the new climate realities of
drought, fire, and flood that are facing all communities in California.

Come learn from the community of Paradise's experiences, and the innovative
ideas they have for a different way of responding to tragedy, including an
upcoming Paradise Camp Fire Restoration Weekend
<https://www.rebuildingparadise.com/restore> event April 26-28. Many
lessons from the Ecosystem Restoration Camp
<https://www.ecosystemrestorationcamps.org/foundation/> global movement
will be incorporated and shared.

The free Santa Barbara evening event will include film, discussion, pizza &
drinks. Matthew Trumm of Treetop Permaculture
<http://www.treetoppermaculture.org/> and coordinator for the Camp Fire
Restoration Project <http://campfirerestorationproject.org/> , will be
available via ZOOM to share and answer questions. Santa Barbara resident
Art Ludwig of Oasis Design <http://oasisdesign.net/> will share film shorts
on fire & earthquake resistant housing, debris flow protection, storm water
capture, and designs for sustainable & affordable housing he is currently
working on.

The free event takes on Monday April 22, 6-8pm at the South Coast Watershed
Resource Center at Arroyo Burro Beach County Park , 981 Cliff Drive, Santa
Barbara, CA 93109. For more information, www.sbpermaculture.org
