"Whether wanting to learn survival skills or just wanting to feel less
encumbered on a weekend hike or extended back country journey, this
series will teach you the basics of living and feeling at home in the
wilderness. Feeling at home involves knowledge of what's around us and
how that can be used to help meet our needs. It is also experiencing
ourselves to be part of the web of life, a sense of being in intricate
connection with all that surrounds us."

"For the past l0 years Denise Bourque has studied and practiced primitive
wilderness skills with Tom Brown, Jim Riggs, Tony Follari, Jim Lowery and
Mary Brooks, Tom and Renee Elpel and others. Learning to travel and
live simply in the natural world, wherther for one day or for one year is
her great love. She has been described as a 'down to earth,' inspiring
teacher able to communicate the heart and spirit of the skills as well as
the physical techniques necessary to perform them. Santa Barbara has
been her home for the past twenty years."
