SANTA BARBARA ORGANIC GARDEN CLUB PRESENTS FREE TALK ON WORMS, VERMICOMPOSTING

The Santa Barbara Organic Garden Club will present a free talk on "Wonderful,
Wiggly Worms! The Joys of Vermicomposting" on Wednesday, May 16 at 7 p.m. at
the Community Environmental Council Gildea Center at 930 Miramonte Drive in
Santa Barbara.

The featured speaker will be Michael Thompson, who has 40 years experience as
an organic gardener and "worm herder."  Dr. Thompson holds a BA in Zoology
from UCSB, plus BS and DDS from UCSF.  He'll talk about how worms can compost
all kitchen wastes, describes the various types of worms and show us how to
make or get vermicomposting bins.  He will also offer free worm samples to
all who attend. Organic Club member Kate Lundy will moderate.

The Santa Barbara Organic Club had its first meeting on July 12, 2000 and
presents monthly local events and activities on topics of interest to
gardeners weaning themselves from chemical pesticides, herbicides and
fertilizers.
