A SATURDAY FOOD CHAIN RELEASE FROM METROFARM.COM...

After decades of denial, the United States Department of Agriculture has
entered into the field of organic farming with an official definition and
a first ever USDA certified organic researcher. This Saturday morning
at 9am Pacific on AM 1080 KSCO and AM 1340 KOMY, the Saturday Food Chain
with Michael Olson hosts that USDA researcher, Dr. Eric Brennan, and
Driscoll Strawberry Associate commercial farmer Tom Jones for a
conversation about going organic. Topics will include the
differences between organic and conventional technologies in production
agriculture; the obstacles that must be overcome when switching from
conventional farming to organic; whether organic technologies can produce
mass quantities of food; and the possible consequences of USDA supported
organic research on the food chain. Listeners are invited to call the
live program with questions and comments at 831-479-1080 or 831-477-1340.
