Hi Margie & Wes,

We will be hosting an Urban Agriculture Workshop at Fairview Gardens at the
end of August. This is a joint production between Fairview and the
Collective Heritage Institute (Bioneers), that trains individuals who want to
start urban farm or garden projects.

Could we announce the workshop in your Permaculture e-newsletter? I think it
might be of interest to some of your members. The workshop description can
be found at the end of this email. Also, if you're receptive, I'd like to
get some flyers to you to make available at an upcoming pemaculture meeting.
Let me know if this is a possibility.

Thanks for any help you can provide,

Christine Cunningham

Urban Agriculture Workshop
Growing Food and Jobs on a Small Piece of Land in Your Community
August 30-September 1, 2002
held at The Center for Urban Agriculture at Fairview Gardens, Goleta,
California
Fee: $195 (scholarships available)

There is a common misconception that food for our society must be grown on
large, industrial farms, far from the places where most of us live and work.
Yet this is no longer the case. In the most unlikely of places, under some
of the most challenging environments, urban dwellers are establishing
economically viable urban farms.

This two-and-a-half day workshop, presented by the Center for Urban
Agriculture at Fairview Gardens and the Collective Heritage Institute
(Bioneers), will provide specific training on acquiring land, capitalizing,
setting up, growing and marketing from small scale urban plots. Participants
will come away from this workshop with clear direction and a "tool kit" for
how to begin.
