With more than 25 years of combined permaculture teaching experience, 
Michael Kramer and Christopher Peck will facilitate this fourth teacher 
certification course for the first time in California. Known worldwide as 
permaculture pranksters, they guarantee you will laugh and learn. A copy of 
the 200+ page comprehensive "Permaculture Curriculum" which is the 
foundation of this course will be given to each student.

The 6 day course is held at the New Dimond Light Center for

Advanced Permaculture Design with Ben Haggard and Michael Kramer

Deepening the Process of Pattern Application

Description: Permaculture homesteads and intentional communities are 
becoming more commonplace in the United States, but how do we broaden 
permaculture's acceptance in American society?  This design seminar, 
intended for experienced practitioners of permaculture, examines the design 
process in depth in order to identify the most highly-leveraged patterns 
and structures for implementing permaculture.  Topics include: patterning 
in project development, decision-making processes, building guilds with 
people, synergistic planning strategies, and the use of evaluation in 
design. It is based on the Ben's seven-year history with Regenesis Group, 
the first permaculture-based full service development firm in the United 
States, and Michael's application of permaculture design to education, 
economics, organizational development, and the personal realm.



Cost: $600 (campsite), $650 and up (w/lodging), all meals included. $400 
for commuters. (meals extra).

Basic Permaculture Design Course



Date: September 19(eve)-28, 2003

Location: Kalani Honua Oceanside Retreat, Big Island, Hawaii



Description: This introductory certification course explores the art and 
science of sustainable design. It examines the many ways in which we can 
create regenerative resources and systems in all aspects of our lives: 
land, food, water, shelter, energy, livelihood, communities, economics, 
politics, education, and intra- and inter-personal dynamics.  The course 
emphasizes techniques and strategies of assessment and planning for your 
life, home, and society. Students will do design work for Kalani Honua 
Oceanside Retreat, a stunning 100-acre retreat center and community near 
the Mauna Loa lava flow, steam vents, and volcanically heated salt-water 
pools!



Cost:  $1450 (campsite), $ 1650 and up (w/lodging), including all meals. 
$900 for commuters (meals extra).
