Hi everyone,
for those of you who weren't there, Ed Mazria gave a fascinating talk last week at UCSB. He is the founder of Architecture 2030, a non profit he established in 2002 in response to global warming. The organization's mission is to rapidly transform the US and global Building Sector from the major
contributor of greenhouse gas emissions to a central part of the
solution to the global-warming crisis. The plan is to do this by changing the way buildings and developments are planned, designed and constructed.

The current important work that Ed and the team at Architecture 2030 are doing is to get legislators to implement the organization's two-year, nine-million-jobs investment plan as part of the stimulus package that is now being debated in Washington DC. They are now in Washington DC and are working to meet with key legislators to get their ideas into the bill. Ed asked supporters and like-minded people like us to write to our Senators and encourage them to consider the plan and to meet with Ed Mazria when he asks for an appointment. Sample letters to Senators and other law makers are here:

The sooner you email the better, as time is an issue. Sorry I took so long to get this 'alert' out to you. And, please, pass this on to others.

Ed also thanked Santa Barbara for being the first city in the nation to implement the 2030 goal (thanks to CEC).

thanks, barbara
