On top of sharing homegrown goodies you will have
the opportunity to help a neighbor install a
small lasagna garden so bring tools, gloves, and
sun protection if you want to participate.

What's a lasagna Garden....

Lasagna gardening is a no-dig, no-till organic
gardening method that results in rich, fluffy
soil with very little work from the gardener. The
name "lasagna gardening" has nothing to do with
what you'll be growing in this garden. It refers
to the method of building the garden, which is,
essentially, adding layers of organic materials
that will “cook down” over time, resulting in
rich, fluffy soil that will help your plants
thrive. Also known as “sheet composting,” lasagna
gardening is great for the environment, because
you're using your yard and kitchen waste and
essentially composting it in place to make a new garden.

A lasagna garden is not full of herbs and
ingredients for an Italian pasta dishit's a way
of gardening that's easy, organic and fun!

<http://firstlasagnagardener.blogspot.com/>Patricia
Lanza was a newly divorced 50-something who had
raised seven children and was looking for a new
path in life. She turned to gardening on her
small farm near the Catskill Mountains of New
York as a way to relieve stress and relax.
However, Patricia found the traditional gardening
methods passed down from her grandmother to be difficult and time consuming.

Common sense told Patricia that layering or sheet
composting would help her build rich soil for her
garden easily, without digging and tilling, but
Patricia took that principle a step further and
developed a method of gardening that has changed
the way people grow vegetables, herbs, fruit and
flowers around the world. Her method is called
lasagna gardening, and it's the basis of three
books she's written, including Lasagna Gardening:
A New Layering System for Bountiful Gardens: No
Digging, No Tilling, No Weeding, No Kidding!
