CAUSE Needs your help to defeat Wal-Mart!

Ballots have already arrived at many people's doorsteps. People in Ventura
are already voting, and some have not yet heard from us. We need community
leaders in our region to put in a couple hours phoning or walking to pass
Measure C, which will prevent superstores like Wal-Mart in the City of
Ventura. Supporters of Measure C are concerned about the increased traffic
and calls for police service that Wal-Mart will bring, as well as the fact
it threatens over 470 local jobs.

Measure C would restrict any store over 90,000 square feet from having more
than 3% of its floor space dedicated to non-taxable items (groceries). This
would prevent Wal-Mart's current proposal to move in, and definitely will
prevent them from expanding. Measure C was the result of years of work, and
over 11,000 local signatures to put it on the ballot.

We need you to come into phone, which we do at the CAUSE office Sun-Wed from
5:30-8:00 p.m. We also are walking every Sat morning at 9:00 a.m. from The
Laborers' Hall, 21 S. Dos Caminos in Ventura.

Please call CAUSE Leglislative Director, Das Williams at (805) 637-7711 to
sign up for a shift, or e-mail him at das at coastalalliance.com.
