November  Meeting Calif. Rare Fruit Growers 
When:  Saturday November  21st, 2009 10:00-noon 
Where:  Sespe Creek Organics, 1845  S. Sespe St.,  Filmore, Ca 93015 
What: Tour  the beautiful, organic orchards of Sespe Creek Organics. They 
having been  growing many varieties of citrus and avocados for 100 years. In 
1989, the owner,  John Wise, transitioned the operation to organic and has 
never looked back. They  have 300 acres and a large packing house for their 
own produce as well as for  outside growers. They are the only organic citrus 
packing  house in Ventura County.  They sell to over 100 retail stores and  
export to Japan.  You can see a very nice slide show of their operation and

Directions:   From  US-101 South. Take the CA-126 East 21.4 miles (signs 
for Santa  Clarita/CA-126) The 126 will turn into Telegraph Raos and then into 
Ventura  Street.         Turn right at Chambersburg  Rd.  ( St/CA-23) 
Continue to follow CA-23, Chambersburg  Rd,  about 2 miles,    Turn right at 
Bardsdale  Ave.   Turn left at S.  Sespe St     . 
>From  101 North, take  CA-23 North, and exit the CA-118/New L.A. Ave.  Turn 
left at CA-118/CA-23/E  Los Angeles Ave/New Los Angeles Ave  (signs for 
CA-118/CA-23/New  Los Angeles Ave)       Turn right at CA-23/Moorpark Ave. 
Continue to follow CA-23 9.3  miles. Turn left at Bardsdale Ave. Turn left at S 
Sespe St
