This Saturday Sept. 11th, Community Roots Garden in Oxnard will be hosting a seed
saving workshop at 10 a.m. It's free, and no registration is
necessary.

If you’ve saved seed before or are a complete beginner, this is a
great opportunity to learn about seed and connect with other seed
savers. This workshop will cover important things to know when saving
seed from plants such as squash, melons, tomatoes, beans, corn,
lettuce, kale and other brassicas, and others. We will cover cross
pollination, selection, seed maturation and harvest, and threshing and
winnowing. Seed saving is an ancient and critical art of farming and
gardening which is not only exciting to reconnect with, but is culturally
significant and economically rational as well.
