 Free talk on biodynamic gardening, brandy tasting tomorrow at Island View Nurser


Oscar Carmona tells us that he'll be one of the hosts at a talk on biodynamic gardening at Island View Nursery tomorrow from 4-6. " Gena Nonini, president of the Biodynamic Association will be giving a presentation. She is very knowledgeable and informative. She is also a farmer out in Fresno. Makes Brandy and Pisco biodynamically among other products. She will be sharing some spirits served with food pairings. Its all free .

Learn from Gena Nonini (see below for bio) , President of the ‘Demeter Biodynamic Trade Association’ and the ‘Josephine Porter Institute for Applied Biodynamics,’ as she shares her knowledge about Biodynamics…a cutting edge approach to gardening that is transforming the landscape and garden world. Oscar Carmona of Healing Grounds Nursery and Denise Ritchie of Malibu Compost will join us to answer questions and share ideas.

Gena Nonini is a Biodynamic farmer and business owner in Fresno, California. She has a BS in Agribusiness from Cal Poly and an MS in Agribusiness, with an emphasis on international trade, from Arizona State University. After receiving her MS, Gena worked as a commodities trader until 1990, when she switched her attentions to farming and founded Marian Farms. She implemented Biodynamic® practices just two years later, and the farm received its Demeter certification in 1995. In business for twenty years, Gena has diversified Marian Farms’ holdings to include vegetables, fruit and nut orchards as well as vineyards and a distillery. She has led Biodynamic workshops and offered consulting services for over four years, and she is the president of two different board associations: the Demeter Biodynamic Trade Association and the Josephine Porter Institute for Applied Biodynamics.
