Very Important Gaviota Plan Hearing!
Participants needed as Gaviota Plan reaches final
stages with Planning Commission

[]

Representatives of the Gaviota Coast Conservancy,
Naples Coalition, and the Environmental Defense
Center will be making a shared 20 minute
presentation at the Planning Commission on issues
of primary importance to the Gaviota Coast Plan.
This plan is nearing completion and this is the
opportunity for the community to express its
support for important changes to the plan.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday,
September 4th at the County Administration
building at the corner of Anacapa and Anapamu in
the Planning Commission Hearing Room on the
ground floor. We will begin the presentation
about 10:00, but if you can arrive about 9:45 we
can orient you to the process. The Planning
Commission has a full schedule that day, so
verbal comments from the public should be very
brief. We may need a few attendees to give us
speaking time to secure the right for the 20 minute presentation.

We will be addressing numerous issues;

· trails,

· incentives,

· the definition of environmentally
sensitive habitat and its mapping and protection,

· house size,

· Williamson Act consistency (don’t dilute
the protection of agricultural land),

· and various technical issues.

If you have any written comments on these
subjects state them simply and direct them to dvillalo at co.santa-barbara.ca.us

It will be very helpful if our community is well
represented; this is our best opportunity to make
a show of support for a robust plan that preserves the Gaviota Coast.

Your presence can make an impact!

If you have any questions, please call Janet Koed at 683-6631.

Thursday, 9/5 is our First Thursday fundraising
event at Casa de la Guerra from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
The event is FREE. Sale of beer, wine, art &
raffle tickets support the work we do to keep The Coast clear.
