In this dynamic and interactive course, you will learn significant teaching techniques to communicate Permaculture principles and strategies in a wide variety of educational settings.

Our goal is to encourage and inspire your unique strengths and talents by demonstrating diverse teaching modalities such as lecture, facilitating class discussions, storytelling, and using visual aids. In this setting of active learning, you will experience essential hands-on practice by preparing and co-teaching several presentations.

Jude Hobbs (USA)

Jude Hobbs is an internationally recognized permaculture educator, land consultant, and designer. Drawing upon 30 years’ experience of utilizing whole-system design techniques, she provides environmentally sound solutions in urban and rural settings which promote sustainable actions.

Through her business, Ago-Ecology Northwest, Jude specializes in encouraging farm management practices for optimizing resource conservation, biodiversity, watershed enhancement and income diversification.

As an educator she brings her passion for Permaculture to her courses by developing curricula that encompass diverse learning styles and methods that are inspiring and information-rich. Jude’s intention is to empower people to creatively change their everyday patterns so as to care for the earth and each other.

As a co-founder of the Permaculture Institute of North America (PINA) she actively supports the next generation of permaculture trainers through continuing education and professional development.

Jude co-tends Wilson Creek Gardens a 7-acre Permaculture demonstration site in Cottage Grove, Oregon where there are abundant micro-climates from which to learn.

Robyn Francis (Australia)

Robyn Francis is an award-winning international permaculture pioneer, designer, educator, presenter, innovator and founder of Permaculture College Australia.

Having worked in Permaculture since 1983 permaculture throughout Australia and overseas, Robyn was founding director Permaculture International Ltd (PIL) in 1987, designer and creator of Djanbung Gardens, Australia's leading permaculture centre, and as a key instigator of the nationally accredited vocational qualifications in permaculture in Australia is committed to improving the quality of permaculture training.

Robyn is a passionate facilitator and educator, dedicated to empowering people to be effective agents of change through her courses and professional development for permaculture teachers, designers and community activists. She has taught over 140 Permaculture Design Courses (PDCs) and over a hundred advanced courses, including the first PDC in India with Bill Mollison in 1987. Her students include some of permaculture's leading teachers and activists.

Rico Zook (USA)

For the past 20 years, Rico has been a Permaculture designer, consultant and educator working with private individuals, farmers, villagers and local organizations in India, Cambodia, northern New Mexico, the middle-east and other parts of the world. His work focuses on assisting all levels of the global community to create culturally and environmentally appropriate life systems that are resilient and regenerative. He has also worked with local and indigenous cultures to help preserve traditional knowledge and technologies while adapting to and becoming active members of our rapidly globalizing world. With work in different climates and cultures, Rico has established himself as one of the new leaders and innovators in Permaculture worldwide. This is further supported by his work with global Permaculture organizations organizing the International Permaculture Convergence.

Further opportunity for practical experience at the IPC 2017 as an assistant during the PDC

There will be an opportunity for 16 Teacher Training Graduates to assist the teaching team during the IPC PDC scheduled in Nov 2016. These 16 graduates will have the chance to deepen their knowledge and experience in course facilitation for a small extra cost to cover food and accommodation expenses. The graduates will be guided and tutored by well-known, highly experienced Permaculture Instructors.

Polam Farm, the venue, is a new and growing permaculture site. Many of the facilities will be used for the first time with our course. Be aware that this will not a fancy hotel nor an urban setting. The facilities will be clean and basic. Delegates will respect the venue by keeping it clean.

Note that your preferred accommodation may be subject to availability. All accommodation includes a bedsheet, pillow and pillow cover; please bring your own blanket or sleeping bag.

Food
All food will be vegetarian, with an option for vegans. Please let us know of any allergies, intolerances or other special dietary requirements while registering for the course. We will try to grow as much of the provisions on location as possible. When sourcing from off site, we try to get organic products if possible.

Climate
The climate in the state of Telangana in November is generally warm and pleasant. Nights can be cool (long pants and a warm jumper/ light jacket). In cold nights in November, temperatures can go down to 14° C (57 Fahrenheit), and on hot days up to 32° C (90 Fahrenheit). The sun is always strong, so although it is not likely to rain much, a small umbrella is very useful for sun when walking around.
