Elfin Permaculture's 9th Annual Permaculture Design Course Online begins Oct.
3, 2004. Students in the six-month course complete four report each,
including a full permaculture design report, follow weekly reading
assignments, and
participate in questions and discussion via email. The heart of the course is
The Permaculture Deign Course CD-ROM, which includes more than 300 files
including several "posts" of course notes and readings for each of the 21
course
modules, numerous papers and pamphlets, at least one sample of a full
permaculture design, sample standard designs, databases, and other resource
materials
including a full length book. New in Cycle 9 of the course will be the first
installment of a course index, which already includes more than 1,000 indexed
terms. The course CD, now in enlarged and improved version 3, is also
available
in a self-study edition and an economy edition that includes only the weekly
posts and course tools, but not any of the additional reading materials.
Purchasers of the full self-study edition may monitor the course at no tuition
charge.

The deadline for scholarship applications is Aug. 1 each year. We encourage
students to seek scholarships from other sources. Interns at Barking Frogs
Permaculture Center have the option of taking the course free of tuition
charge
while they are here.

For information on Barking Frogs internships, go to the same web site and
download the Intern FAQs. This document is due to be enlarged, but the
information is still accurate.

Online course designer Dan Hemenway began teaching permaculture
certificate courses in 1984 at the urging of Bill Mollison and
others. Cynthia
Hemenway, who teaches the Design for Health module and serves as back-up if
Dan is
unavailable for any reason has been a health professional all her
life. She is
a CNM Nurse Practitioner in OB/GYN at a local tertiary care hospital and is
launching her own Design for Health Practice. South African Willem Smuts has
been involved in all of the online course cycles to date. A geologist and a
humanist, not to mention humorist, Willem brings many vital perspectives to
the
course. Willem's comments always enrich the course.

Instructor resumes may be found on the web site.

Please read the course protocol carefully before asking questions. Thanks.
