In the 1970's architect and philosopher Christopher Alexander developed a 
system of patterns, which he called A Pattern Language, to help people 
better understand the built environment--buildings, interiors, gardens, 
etc--and to make it easier for ordinary people as well as architects to 
create places that nourish our deepest personal needs.  Join landscape 
architect Owen Dell in a workshop on using A Pattern Language to understand 
and design gardens that really work.
